1 in 6 local seniors--our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles--goes hungry every day.

Alameda County Meals on Wheels (ACMOW) financially assists five local Meals on Wheels (MOW) providers allowing them to focus on what matters most--feeding local, homebound seniors. Each delivery day, 2,100 local homebound seniors receive not only delicious and nutritious meals, but also companionship and safety/wellness checks. Due to skyrocketing demand from amply-qualified applicants, we currently have a waiting list of 85 homebound seniors.

It’s our hope that the 7th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride (WFMR) on Saturday, October 17th will help us eliminate this waiting list. This much-loved, highly-respected and well-supported fundraising event is perfect for avid cyclists, recreational riders and families alike. WFMR features 15, 35 and 70 mile routes to accommodate all levels. It launches from Shadow Cliffs Park in Pleasanton and ends with a lakeside celebration and BBQ lunch.

To reach our ambitious goal, we seek temporary, contract assistance in the following areas:
- Engaging local corporations and businesses (sponsorships, teams and volunteers);
- Securing in-kind sponsorships (early morning DJ, bike shops, certified massage therapists, etc.);
- Recruiting participants and volunteers (recruiting, orienting, training and logistics); and
- Day-of-event logistics assistance.

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications required! Knowledge of/connection to the local cycling community is a huge plus. ACMOW seeks a professional with a strong customer-service orientation who is accountable, detail-oriented, well-organized, creative, tenacious, and adaptable.

This contract position works mostly from home, but in-office and community meetings will occasionally be required. We’re located near Oakland Airport in a building with ample free parking.
